State Police troopers were dispatched to a stretch of the interstate in Harrison at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Monday, July 23, where there was a reported domestic dispute.

Police said that the investigation into the incident determined that Jersey City resident Dan Jean, 26, allegedly was involved in a verbal argument inside the vehicle, which turned physical. Jean allegedly then punched his passenger with a closed fist, causing bruising and a cut to her ear.

According to police, during the domestic incident, Jean allegedly caused “extensive damage” to his victim’s vehicle, all while a child under the age of 17 was in the vehicle. Jean’s victim declined medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. The child was not injured.

Jean was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal mischief, assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He is currently waiting to be arraigned in the Town of Harrison Court. No bail or return court dates have been released by police.
